Discovered in the New World and transplanted to Europe, tomatoes have been a foundation of the Italian diet for centuries and form one part of the triumvirate of necessary ingredients, the others being olives, for the olive oil, and grapes, for the wine. Our tomatoes come from the lands in the south of Italy, known for their fertility and production of extremely high quality produce.
